The home's story
The House Where Every Summer Happened
A 1956 post-and-beam built for open doors and wet footprints.

When we first walked through, the sliding doors were already open and you could smell the lemon tree from the living room. We made an offer that night.
This house was designed for a Southern California summer. The walls of glass slide away, the floor runs straight out to the pool deck, and on a warm evening there's no real line between inside and out.
Our rule was simple: if the doors are open, everyone's welcome.
Pool and patio
The Pool That Raised a Swim Team
Both of our kids learned to swim here before they could ride bikes. By middle school they'd joined the local swim club, and our backyard became the unofficial after-practice hangout.
The patio gets the late sun, so we'd eat dinner out there most of the summer and watch the light go orange on the water.
“We went through a lot of towels.”
I've never once wished this house were bigger. I've wished summer were longer.
Little things worth knowing
- Clerestory windows bring in light without heat
- Outdoor shower by the side gate, still original
- Meyer lemon tree that produces almost year-round
- Ten-minute bike ride to the Back Bay trails

A letter to the next owner
Dear next owners,
Leave the doors open on the first warm night. You'll understand.
The lemon tree likes a deep watering once a week and absolutely no fuss otherwise.
